About
I am a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Department of Earth, Marine, and Environmental Sciences at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
I completed my PhD in Geosciences from Virginia Tech in May of 2026. My research dives into how we can best use geospatial tools and satellite-based remote sensing to learn more about Earth's precious freshwaters. I'm particularly interested in how water quality (e.g., temperature, suspended sediment) in rivers and estuaries varies across both space and time. By using satellites, we can begin to develop broad-scale understandings of riverine changes and what drives them.
I am an applied geographer at heart. Over the years, I have worked on a variety of cool GIS projects. I've looked at tornado siren coverage, urban greenspaces, precision agriculture, and landscape ecology. I started my PhD journey after working as a GIS Analyst for 4 years in the midstream oil and gas industry. All in all, you can basically say I just love a good map!
If I'm not mapping something, tinkering with code, or making graphics -- I'm likely out taking my dog for a walk or hiking somewhere en route to my next trail snack.

Dissertation: Joining Water Quantity and Water Quality: Assessing Altered River Thermal Regimes with Satellite Remote Sensing
My PhD focused on using satellite-based remote sensing techniques to bridge the divide between water quantity and water quality within inland waterbodies. Specifically, I was interested in observing broad-scale riverine thermal regimes and the effect of large dams.
